For the second year, IREC is calling for both GEARED and non-GEARED students to submit their research for the GEARED student poster session at DistribuTECH 2018 Conference, January 23-25 San Antonio. Deadline to submit has been extended to November 27.

GEARED students will showcase their research on power systems, smart grid and distributed technology topics in a poster session that will run throughout the conference. “This year, up to 52 research or projects posters by graduate and undergraduate students will be chosen to display their work,” said Mary Lawrence, GEARED project coordinator. “We’re reaching out to schools in the GEARED network as well as those within driving distance to San Antonio.” Students will be on hand to talk about their posters. For the first time, DistribuTECH organizers have created a special student website.

In addition to the poster session, GEARED is planning a tour of a local renewable energy facility for students and faculty. “We’re also inviting young professional engineers to share their experiences as new employees in the utility industry,” said Lawrence. “A glimpse into the real world of power systems engineering from young professionals will give current students a good sense for what happens after they graduate.”
